This exclusive performance at the Tiny Desk Concert series showcased a masterful blend of artistic expression.

The renowned artist Common selected a powerful setlist, addressing contemporary issues such as the parallels between modern incarceration and historical oppression. His repertoire also envisioned a future where female leadership shapes the world, and paid tribute to his father, a lifelong inspiration.

Common assembled an extraordinary six-member ensemble of his closest musical allies for this unique event. This included the exceptionally talented Robert Glasper, known for his nuanced keyboard skills, and Derrick Hodge, a versatile musician whose contributions span hip-hop to folk, leaving a significant mark in the jazz scene on the bass. In addition, Common reunited with his long-term artistic partner, Bilal, for vocal collaborations on two tracks.

The concert featured an exciting mix of three new compositions alongside a rendition of the timeless hit “I Used To Love H.E.R..”
